The event is a “pop up,” temporary event that’s utilizing two existing Uptown spaces – the former home of Borders on Broadway (formerly a Goldblatt’s Department Store) and the Uptown Broadway building at 4701 North Broadway.
The expo includes over 40 local presses and a performance by local band Joan of Arc. A reading series and local architecture tours will also be part of the event. For more specific details, check out the Chicago House Writers Project Web page.
I think this is a great idea. Even if you’re not a book fiend like me, using existing space and having a place for people to meet and grow the community is a really positive thing. Hopefully, it will be a way for more people to see more of Uptown.
