City Colleges announce new tobacco-free policy

Patrick Erwin, editor

City Colleges announced a tobacco-free campus policy in a press release yesterday.

The policy, which is slated to take place on March 1, will affect all seven campuses as well as satellite locations and the central district office in the Loop.

According to the press release, City Colleges has over 120,000 students and approximately 5,800 faculty members that will be impacted.

This initiative appears to be part of the Healthy Campus initiative. A wellness center for Truman opened late last semester.

What are your thoughts? Will this impact you? We’d like to hear from you on this topic. Feel free to leave a comment here on our blog or on our Facebook page.

  1. Interesting, but… How is this different from the previous no-smoking policy at Truman? If Truman couldn’t handle keeping smokers 15 feet away from their main entrance before, how can they handle a non-smoking policy today?
