Uptown’s story on stage

By Patrick Erwin, editor-in-chief

Two Chicago theatre groups are collaborating on a new series of works called Solo Voce (meaning “one voice as many”) and will focus on Uptown in their initial work, the Uptown Project.

Pegasus Theatre (which was formerly housed on Truman’s campus) and Live Bait Theater are working to gather anecdotes and stories about the people and history of Uptown.

According to the Uptown Project’s Web page, the stories will be staged this summer in a mixture of recorded media and live theatrical performances.

If you think you’ve got a compelling story about your Uptown experience – or your Truman experience – check out the Uptown Project Web page, which includes an email address for submission.

Is there a particular building or area in Uptown that you think defines the neighborhood? Any interesting people or characters that you associate with Uptown? Let us know in the comments.
