Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office announced another partnership between a corporate entity in the City of Chicago and City Colleges of Chicago (CCC).
On Friday, the Mayor’s office announced the partnership with Aon, a company that provides insurance, reinsurance and brokerage services.
Unlike earlier partnerships announced as part of the College to Careers initiative, a specific campus or curriculum for Aon’s partnership has not been identified.
The press release indicates that City College graduates could be eligible for hundreds of additional jobs the company is creating in Chicago. At least 350 jobs will be created in 2012 and 2013.
Aon made headlines in January when it announced it was moving its headquarters from Chicago to London. According to the Wall Street Journal, Aon had been based in Chicago since a merger created the company as its own entity in 1982.
The press release also included a statement from CCC Chancellor Cheryl Hyman, who said that “a partnership with Aon will further secure Chicago’s status as an international capital of finance and insurance by preparing students to be ready for the many opportunities in this field.”
