CeaseFire march in Uptown this week

By Patrick Erwin, editor-in-chief

CeaseFire Uptown posted a notice on their Facebook page asking for people to participate in an anti-violence march on Thursday, April 26.

Marchers will be meeting in front of Truman’s main building at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, and will walk east on Wilson to Clarendon.

Ceasefire is a national organization that works to stop shooting and killings. The documentary “The Interrupters” is about CeaseFire and the outreach work they do.

A recent session of the State Legislature questioned the effectiveness of the program. The PBS program Frontline recently took a look at the spike in homicides in Chicago and interviewed Tio Hardiman, the director of CeaseFire Illinois.
