At approximately 10:45 a.m. today, picketers supporting the Chicago Public Schools teachers’ strike swiftly marched in front of Truman College, as drivers honked their horns and passerby cheered.
Some of the picket signs sighted this morning read:
“WOULD YOU BE WHERE YOU ARE TODAY W/O A TEACHER”
“IF YOU CAN READ THIS THANK A TEACHER”
“HONK for CHILDREN”
“ON STRIKE FOR A FAIR CONTRACT”
“ALL WE’RE ASKING IS FOR A LITTLE RESPECT”
“Our kids deserve what Rahm’s kids get!”
“Longer Days + Fewer Resources (does not equal) A Better School Day!!”
Do you agree with these statements? Were you one of the picketers? We’d like to hear from you. Comment below.
