Architecture and history will take center stage this week at the second annual Open House Chicago (OHC), on Oct. 13 and 14.
Presented by the Chicago Architecture Foundation, the OHC offers a free citywide and rare opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at more than 150 buildings.
Eleven of these historic buildings reside within Uptown. As a former entertainment destination in the 1920s and 1930s, the Uptown neighborhood still features several iconic structures:
- Aragon Ballroom
- Green Mill
- Riviera Theatre
- Friendly Towers
- 4750 GreenRise
- Uptown Agudas Achim North Shore Congregation
- Bridgeview Bank
- Essanay Studios
- Preston Bradley Center
- Sheridan Plaza Apartments
- Vanguard Weiss Hospital’s Urban Rooftop Farm
These will be open for self-guided exploration.
Viewing hours are generally from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but individual site times may vary.
