A Facebook event with nearly 9,000 people attending sparked Uptown Exchange photographer, Jarred Gastreich, to attend the Donald Trump rally/protest with other Truman students at the UIC Pavilion on Friday, March 11, 2016.
Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hat was a popular choice for supports to wear to show their alliance.
Protesters began showing up at the UIC Pavilion at the same time as Trump supporters and police officers.
People began to suspect undercover protesters were in line because of the amount of diverse people in it compared to other Trump rallies.
A bike messenger had just gotten off work and made a quick, humorous, Chicago-themed sign.
Many of the protester’s signs were aimed at Trump’s bigotry towards Arabs and Hispanics.
Some Trump supports wore colors to show their patriotism and were happy to pose journalist’s cameras.
